In education students need support. They are expected to take several classes at once and be self-disciplined as an adolescent to stay on task and complete all of the required work. Up until now it is typical for a parent to attempt to help manage their child’s work. Although a great concept, it does not always work due to life demands and the strain it puts on a parent/child relationship. Consistently checking in, monitoring progress in each course, helping answer questions and motivating a child is very challenging for any adult not in the educational field let alone a parent. Teenagers often respond better to a nonparental adult which is where a Learning Coach comes in. They take over the role of monitor by helping to manage your child’s education.
Online Learning Coaches, LLC and teachers play pivotal roles in the success of education for students. The majority of time and work is done by the student, teacher, and school work monitor; nonetheless, it is still the parent who holds the most influence over their child. Due to this, the monitors at Online Learning Coaches, LLC stay in regular contact with parents. Whether your child is doing well or struggling, the learning coach will keep you informed so that you can be your child’s biggest cheerleader!
Both K12 Online Public Schools and Connections Academy require that students be logged on daily for attendance within their online platforms. If participation and progress are determined by the Online Learning Coach during daily check-ins, the Online Learning Coach will fulfill the requirement of electronically logging that your child attended school.
Yes. Similar to extracurricular activities, students enrolled in online courses are eligible to register for courses offered in local brick and mortar public schools. This too can be an overwhelming process for any online home education family to tackle on their own. If requested, Online Learning Coaches can investigate what your local school district offers for courses, information about each course and what is needed to register. Any required paperwork or contact information will be provided to the family.
Are students who enroll in online courses able to participate in extracurricular activities such as sports and clubs at local public schools?
Yes. Students enrolled in online courses can participate in all extracurricular activities at local public schools. Your child can do anything ranging from playing on a sports team to joining a school club to playing in the school band. Extracurricular activities are wonderful opportunities for any student to grow and socialize. Navigating the details surrounding these activities can sometimes be a daunting task, especially when the student doesn’t attend the school on a daily basis. Online Learning Coaches know exactly where to find this information and can notify students and parents of upcoming opportunities at local schools. All information will be provided throughout the school year as requested.
